Progress & History of Splash Park

It was late August of 2019 and the Kiwanis Splash Park was finally opened to the delight of the children in Crook County. It had been a long haul but the project delivered an exciting and popular asset to our entire community.

Years earlier the initial dream was proposed by club member Lucee Smith. It was initially dropped because of the prohibitive cost of construction. Eventually a community based collaborative plan brought the dream to life.

The collaboration ranged from individual citizens to our communities largest businesses. The City of Prineville and Crook County Parks and Recreation were the primary public contributors. Numerous local contractors made significant in-kind donations of goods and services. Without these contributions this project was simply not possible. The Splash Park anchors a growing and cutting edge recreational facility that Prineville Kiwanis continues to support.

As you pass by the Splash Park on a warm and sunny day, please recognize what is possible when a community comes together for a common cause.

C.A.S.T. Fishing Event

This is a C.A.S.T. for Kids event, designed to provide children ages 5 to 17 with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the sport of fishing. Take to the water with C.A.S.T. for an unforgettable morning of fishing and boating!

 

Our Mission-

The Kiwanis Club of Prineville improves the lives of the youth and families of Crook County and the surrounding
communities through hundreds of hours of service, monetary contributions,and by acting as positive role models for the youth and future leaders of the community.

Our club is proud to serve Prineville with an emphasis on projects that benefit youth-oriented programs. The club's single biggest fundraiser is the Casino and Auction Night. This event has been heavily supported within our community by businesses and individuals.

The Prineville Kiwanis Foundation was established in 2010 and has become a major bricks-and-mortar contributor
in the community. The single largest project was the construction of the Kiwanis Splash Pad which opened in 2019.

The foundation has dedicated funds for parks improvements, Crook County Schools athletics, reading programs, after school day care and college scholarships. The foundation is governed by a five-member board, elected by and from Prineville Kiwanis membership.

Easter Egg Hunt Returns for 2024

 

We held the traditional Easter Egg Hunt this year at the fairgrounds. Although the weather did not cooperate, the club adapted and the turnout was great.

Kiwanis members Sheryl Rhoden and Lacey McBeth-Madden offered to buy bikes on behalf of Mann Mortgage. They managed the entire affair from registration to sponsorship of the bike raffle. What a team!

Our Easter bunny this year was Jackie Templeton, who had more fun than the kids.

 

 

 

4th of July Pancake Breakfast

Another successful breakfast leading up to a parade, carnival and fun run through Prineville. Thanks to all who planned, prepared and served.

 

 

Sees Candy Sale 2024

Thank you for making this holiday tradition a successful fundraiser for the benefit of children in our community. All proceeds from this candy sale will help fund scholarships, K-3 summer school, Kiwanis-sponsored playgrounds, and numerous other causes within our Prineville community. You are the best!

 

 

Kiwanis Family Picnic

After a summer full of projects and events, we all got together for an end of summer picnic at Forest and Mary Ann's beautiful home. This year Vickie and Clayton brought an amazing ice cream maker that served the best vanilla ice cream ever.
